It's finally here!!! The New Era Clipse fitted on sale and in limited quantities. These are already on eBay. Someone is about to come up! Cop it at Capitol 1524 which is located at 1524 E. Olive Way here in Seattle. You can say that you got it for cheap. I may head to the shop today to check it out, but I'm sure they're all sold out by now. Can't decide on the two colorways though. There's only 72 in purple and a mere 30 produced in Kelly Green. Cost is $45 if you want that purp and $55 greenbacks for the green domepiece.

Chris Lowe Returns With Black Life II On Nature Sounds

Though Chris Lowe is a producer extraordinaire from Connecticut by way of Chicago who has been in the entertainment business for over 15-years (a true example of longevity in the Hiphop community), he’s only recently begun to garnish the accolades he’s deserved; including being named one of Urb Magazine’s “Hot 100” artists in 2004.

While Chris maybe best known for his early, ground-breaking work with Stezo (the group’s debut LP Crazy Life spawned classics such as “Its Your Turn,” “To The Max” & “Freak The Funk”) and for working closely with EPMD in the late 80’s on Sleeping Bag/Fresh Records, Chris and Dooley-O were also the first to discover the famed “Skull Snaps” break beat, using it for Stezo’s now fabled “It’s Your Turn” (re-popularized by Gang Starr’s “Take It Personal”) which was duly noted on Chris’ debut LP, Black Life, on the skit “Do Your History.”

Mostly noted as a "break beat king", in the same class as Large Professor, Pete Rock, and DJ Premier, Chris Lowe combines the aesthetics of his early 90’s production prowess with the crisper tactics of today, melding an LP of Funk and Soul Sampling sensibilities with the up-jump crunch of the future.

Chris came back to the forefront in 2004 with his critically acclaimed debut, Black Life, which featured an array of artists, including Parrish Smith of EPMD, Carl Thomas, Large Professor, Sadat X, Dinco D (Leaders Of The New School), Dooley O and Stezo. Black Life was engineered by Hit Squad (EPMD, Das EFX) in-house maestro Charlie Moratta---who previously engineered and produced timeless creations for EPMD, Keith Murray, Redman and Das Efx.

In 2007, Chris Lowe returns to follow-up his critically-acclaimed debut, with its sequel, Black Life II (The Next Thing Smokin'), which will be released by Nature Sounds on 4-17-06 and is entirely produced by Chris and features no guest appearances!! Breaks and beats aside, Black Life II is simply The Rap Life as it harkens back to Hiphop’s glory age! Classically timed, lushly-produced and ripe with the ingredients that made so many of Chris Lowe’s past collaborations the integral pieces of Hiphop history they are today.

Zune x Capitol 1524 featuring the Clipse & Bun B PARTY


So I just caught wind of this going down tomorrow night at The Baltic Room here in Seattle. I did some research and found out for sure that this is supposed to be another one of those events to talk about here in the town. It must be Zune's way of demonstrating the whole "welcome to the social" picture that they paint. This is all speculation, but apparently emails were sent out over the weekend by Zune "marketing" and early on this week by Capitol 1524 which is a sneaker shop who is sponsoring this event. Supposedly, one has to be on the guestlist to get in to the party. I talked to a source which brings me to my speculative sense of how this party all came to be known to the public. However, it's supposed to be low key, kinda word of mouth like. Anyhow, that source is on the list and of course, the list is now closed. I know it's gonna be a dope show with the Clipse performing along with Bun B and yeah, I wish I could attend! So, for anyone who's attending, holler at your neighborhood ninja with a report. Would be much appreciated to hear how the show went. Oh, we can't forget about the cornerstone of hip-hop, the DJ! Mr. Supreme will be orchestrating the musical ensemble for the evening by spinning on what we call turntables at this event. So for anyone who's attempting to enter the party, let me know if it was oh so exclusive or not. Welcome to the social.

Adidas x DJ Irie



Just checked my email and saw that Adidas has collaborated with DJ Irie on a basketball shoe. I'm sure sneaker fiends and collector's will definitely take a look at this. There'll be a shoe release party in recognition of this release in Miami @ Club Mansion on Friday, January 26, 2007. Irie's limited edition shoe (100 pairs worldwide) will be in stores on Tuesday, January 30, 2007. Either at the Shoe Gallery (305-371-2063) or the Miami Hoops Gear store (786-777-GEAR or 1-877-HEAT-2-GO).

Interestingly enough, I saw that Portland's DJ OG One and DJ Wicked were bestowed the same honor with a launch of their shoes on December 26, 2006. According to Wicked's MySpace page, his shoe is available on January 27, 2007 at the Lifted Shoe store in Portland, Oregon (503-281-4090). One would have to assume that OG One's shoe would drop on the same date.





Looks as though Adidas is really using the power of the DJ in reviving the brand and connecting with the hip-hop consumer. This is definitely a good look giving props to DJs and shows that not only are they tastemakers of music, but can influence one's lifestyle. Seems like Adidas is doin it big ever since they took over the league in outfitting the NBA in conjunction with the "superstar collection" with Dan The Automator on the beats!



The shoe that is being personalized is the classic 80's Adidas EQT basketball shoe. According to an Adidas EQT Basketball MySpace page, DJ Clue and Funkmaster Flex are slated to remix this model and have their own shoes as well.
